Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to solving problems of social importance (Baer, Wolf, Risley, 1968) including educational issues, problem behaviors, and much more. It is based on the pioneering work of Drs. J. B. Watson, B. F. Skinner, and many others dating back to the early 1900s. The unofficial birth of applied behavior analysis is 1968, with the introduction of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. With the recent rise of children with autism and the establishment of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in the late 1990s, the field has grown in size and influence. At BDS, our mission is to further the development of empirically validated methods of instruction and deliver that technology in a cost-effective manner.
